Sing. Sing a Song. NOW, y'all.

It was a long night for Choir Director Miss Jane.

"Miss Jane, I don't like this song. I'm not going to sing it."

"Miss Jane, I have to go potty. NOW."

"Miss Jane, my dog's name is Juicy."

"Miss Jane, Conrad (not his real name -- are you kidding?) hit me with his rhythm stick."

And that was just in the first 15 minutes.

This photo, taken after the Little Rascals had scampered off to parts unknown and away from me, sums it all up:

That's the floor. And those are stickers. Attached to the floor. With self-adhesive. What little nails I had going in to tonight are now completely destroyed.

Not without irony, I just took this test:
17

I'll be ready for next week. Bring. It. On.

Very very funny story. It's like I was there (shudder).

As for the quiz, I got 25. What's a moral compass?

I neglected to mention the not one, not two but three group excursions to the bathroom -- one of which included me busting into the boys room to see what all the yelling was about -- 'twas but a simple exercise in acoustics. But still.

A 25? That's tough, man.

It's funny, I was just talking to my DS last night, who's thinking about becoming a teacher (I'm a teacher) and we both agreed - "no children under 8". I can't imagine doing a choir with young children. More power to you!

Aw, thanks. I like to say that this is the most challenging 45 minutes of my week -- but also the most rewarding. Above everything, I really do love my singing urchins -- even though they wear me out.

Miss Janey thinks directing choir was probably easier when there was an eminent threat of being able to smack a kid and get away with it. It certainly worked for Miss J's teacher back in the day.

Being a choir director is a very challenging job. Ours (at the middle school where I teach and my daughter is a student) is incredible. She is directing our production of The Seussical right now (tomorrow is opening night), and I am blown away by her ability to get the entire 150 kids eating out of her hand the minute she opens her mouth. Your job must be fun. Whenever I hear little kids singing, I get tears in my eyes (literally).

Come back anytime, sogeshirtsguy -- I'm always up to something. Whether it's constructive or not is another matter...

And my volunteer job is fun, mrs4444 -- and also a source of constant amusement. I'm amazed at the creativity of my young charges when they're allowed to explore it -- something I encourage whenever possible and practical.

LMAO! Well, not that I plan to test this theory... you know, unless MJ gets mauled at the park, but I can apparently take out 31 five year olds. lol Hmmm... I wonder if there is a practical application for this new found skill of mine.

Thanks for the laugh.

Sorry the kids sucked for you today.
