I think my midlife crisis is here: I'm pondering getting a

tattoo.

An ampersand (&) in a typewriter font.

The biggest question is where. Someplace unobtrusive would be best for me, I'm thinking. Although part of me would love to have it on the inside of my wrist. However, I have two galpals who have vehemently told me that they will haunt me if I go this route.

I would have to say i agree.... what about on your hip? thats always a good one as you can still wear strapless dresses and not have it seen if you feel like it?

Ok, I"m so not the person to comment on this since I LOVE tattoos and have three already and one more in the works.

What I can say is that I love the idea of getting an ampersand. Just out of curiosity, what symbolic value does it have for you?

If you're hesitating at all about getting the tat, certainly don't get it on your wrist... how about the back of your neck or your shoulder blade?

As a chica with degrees in both public relations and English, I set a great store by words. And as I'm trying to add the concept of "writer" into my personal identity lexicon, the ampersand just seemed to work, as it's kind of a "word-y" symbol. Not too big, yet immediately identifiable.

Plus -- I have a "thing" for typewriters. I went through journalism school (at the University of Florida -- gratuitous plug) on a typewriter, in the ancient BC (Before Computers) era.
Ergo the font.

And I think I just wrote a whole 'nother blog entry in this comment. Hmmm.

Hmm, not a fan. No disrespect to those who have them. Just FWIW.

You and me both baby! I am planning to put it inside my wrist. I feel like mine (it is a butterfly) is part of the identity I have and want to see it all the time and be reminded constantly!
I'll tell you when I've done the deed.
